Cholesterol, Statins & Snake Oil Salesmen
Burnsy, my liver genetically produces four times as much bad cholesterol than it needs to. No amount of diet, excercise or snakeoil will bring it down to a normal level, without the help of statins. The only side effect I got from my initial prescription was minor fatigue. My doctor changed me to another statin and I'm now right as rain with cholesterol down to normal levels. Beware of over zealous 'nutritionists' promising the world. My father died way too early due to high cholesterol before statins were widely available. Please remind mr natural that alchemy died out with the plague. Great show and best of regards, Anson Bentley in Bridlington

Disillusioned Man
Unfortunately, after half a lifetime of interaction with my species, I have lost a great proportion of the ability to feel any humanity toward them.

Old School Democrats - Where Did You Go?
For example, some of the tenets he adhered to: Workfare, not welfare, including a legitimate safety net instead of a generational handout lifestyle; strong military; patriotism; traditional family ideals; individualism; true workers rights and representation, not the lining of politically motivated union leaders pockets; adoption instead of abortion, unless the life of the mother was in danger or rape, incest and the like occurred; victims rights, not criminals; balanced budgets, not ever increasing so called debt limits; right to bear arms; for the death penalty; hunting rights; American exceptionalism; strong but fair immigration policy and on and on and on.
Now, it must be said, I have many members of my family who are absolutely wonderful people and are adherents of the modern day democratic president and party but who, however, most probably agree with many of the tenets laid out above. This does not mean that I don't love 'em to bits, but it does mean that I hope they 'see the error of their ways' and come back home soon. :-)
These are many of the things I respect and hold dear. Whatever we call ourselves, I'm sure many of us can agree, the principles laid above, for the most part, are unifying for those of us who grew up in the 'good ole days'.
Again, 'Old School Democrats...Where did you go?' I'm not too sure, but they'd be welcome in my house anytime.

Syria Nightmare
Syria
Syria, what should we do?
...the president should kill Assad and do his best to destroy the chemical weapons IF he decides to go in and then vamoose and let them sort their own mess out. Of course I agree, any intentional targeting of innocent civilians is absurd and goes without saying. I agree that it is most likely the Assad regime that controls the vast majority of the WMD inventory and capability but can't for the life of me figure out why they would use it and press President Obama to act on his 'red line' threat and to what benefit? I Disagree that it is next to impossible to source chemical weapons as mentioned in your white supremacist scenario. Assad is one of many bullies in the Islamist world playground willing to spread around WMD's to the highest bidder. It could have been a rebel or other organization that acquired/supplied the weapons, however difficult. In a multi-dimensional intrastate civil war, all sorts of hell can break lose and just about anything can go missing and be reconfigured and fit for purpose, including delivery system etc. Also, the so called rebels have one hell of a motive to pin this on Assad, hence the current debate on the use of US/GB/FR military options against the Assad regime. However, to be honest, I have no idea who did it and the above is only my un-educated opinion. Your guess is good as mine. The question isn't who are the good guys in Syria, they're all 'bad guys'. The vast majority of the Gov't, the opposition, the people, etc. hate us over there. Currenty, it's as if the axis powers during WWII are killing each other off within their own territory. Might be a good idea to leave them alone and let them all do the dirty work for us? You think Iraq was a spider web and mistake, this, in my opinion, could prove a cluste£*** of epic proportions and be the catalyst for all hell breaking loose over there in that hellhole of a tinderbox. As far as my political ideology is concerned, I have absolutely nothing against President Obama the man, father, husband, etc., I just disagree with most of his ideology, policies, motivations and politics. I believe he will say anything, do anything just to get elected and maintain power more that any president I have studied in my lifetime, maybe all-time. His only close competitor was Nixon in my opinion. I believe he is 'fundamentally transforming' America into a nation more divisive by the minute and shattering reverend King's dream, to not only Black Americans detriment, but to the nation as a whole. I am a former democrat, but feel the democratic party of today has no semblance to the party of my dads generation, to which I could relate. ex. guns, taxes (kennedy), military, foreign policy (roosevelt), civil rights (MLK), energy, space exploration, patriotism, economics, crime/punishment/victims and on and on and on. However, the republican party in the USA and the conservative party in the UK, to which I am a card carrying member, have basically become spineless and dysfunctional as well over the past 10+ years and I am looking to get out of the party political advocacy machine and become an independent, but finding it difficult because of political impotency when outside of the party mainstream. Anyway, thanks for listening to my above waffling rant!
